Windstream Call Forwarding

Using Your Windstream Phone:

  1. Lift the Handset:

    • Pick up your business phone connected to the Windstream service.
  2. Enter the Call Forwarding Activation Code:

    • Dial *72 from your phone.
  3. Enter the External Number:

    • After dialing *72, you will hear a stutter dial tone.
    • Enter the external number where you want to forward your calls, including the area code. For example, if the number is (555) 123-4567, dial 5551234567.
  4. Confirmation:

    • Wait for the confirmation tone or message indicating that call forwarding has been successfully activated.
  5. Hang Up:

    • Once you hear the confirmation, hang up the phone.

Deactivating Call Forwarding:

  1. Lift the Handset:

    • Pick up your business phone connected to the Windstream service.
  2. Enter the Call Forwarding Deactivation Code:

    • Dial *73 from your phone.
  3. Confirmation:

    • Wait for the confirmation tone or message indicating that call forwarding has been successfully deactivated.
  4. Hang Up:

    • Once you hear the confirmation, hang up the phone.

Using the Windstream Online Portal (if available):

  1. Log In to Your Account:

    • Go to the Windstream website and log in to your business account.
  2. Navigate to Call Management Features:

    • Find the section for managing call features, which may be under settings or services.
  3. Activate Call Forwarding:

    • Look for an option to activate call forwarding.
    • Enter the external number to which you want to forward your calls.
  4. Save Changes:

    • Confirm and save the changes to activate call forwarding.

Notes:

  • Ensure that the external number is correct to avoid forwarding calls to the wrong destination.
  • Call forwarding might incur additional charges, especially if forwarding to long-distance or mobile numbers. Check with Windstream for details on any potential charges.
  • The specific feature codes (*72 for activation and *73 for deactivation) might vary, so it's good to verify these codes with Windstream support if you encounter any issues.

Account -> Call Handling -> Emergency Override

Forward from phone:

  1. Pick up the handset and listen for dial tone.

  2. Press 72#.

  3. Dial the phone number provided to you by the answering service. When the call is answered live or with a greeting, call forwarding is in activated. If the call is not answered, repeat steps one and two.
